Whenever you are planning to go to a special occasion – whether it’s a celebration of some kind or a wedding – you can spend hours deciding what to wear. But quite often it’s the accessories which really make an outfit, and it’s important that you don’t fall into the trap of adding them almost as an afterthought.
You should spend as much time choosing your accessories as you do the outfit itself – and ideally you should be shopping for both of them at the same time. If you have bought your outfit and you have it with you, it’s far easier to match up colours and get everything to blend in and look good together.
One of the most problematic areas for many women is choosing a hat. It can be the desired thing at many weddings for example, but not everyone feels comfortable wearing one. They don’t tend to suit everyone either.
That’s why you should consider other options as well. You might be surprised at the number of items you can wear in your hair that are nothing like wearing a hat, and yet they look equally stunning at the same time. Designer items in particular can achieve an outstanding effect.
One of the simplest designs is a hair comb. While that might sound a little basic for such a grand occasion, these are no ordinary combs. They are designed with various types and styles of attachment which are fixed to the hair comb itself. You could go for a comb which has a collection of feathers springing from it for example, dyed to match your outfit. Another option which looks good is a combination of feathers and crystals. All you need to do is slide it into your hair and you won’t even know you are wearing it.
Another popular option, thanks to designers such as Pip Hackett, is hair fascinators. These are almost small hats in their own right, yet they usually include a comb or a headband integrated into the overall design.
They are much more ornate than a simple hair comb, and often feature elaborate designs which include lace, netting and flowers. There are so many different styles and colours available that you should find it quite easy to select a designer hair fascinator to suit your outfit.
The key to successfully choosing the right headpiece to wear is to choose whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Hair fascinators and head combs are ideal if you don’t like the idea of wearing a proper hat, and are easy enough to fix in place just before you arrive at your party or function.
A little extra time spent adding those finishing touches will make you feel much more confident on the day. Just be ready for all the compliments you’ll receive!
