A panic attack, according to various online resources, is “a sudden surge of overwhelming fear that comes without warning and without any obvious reason. It is far more intense than the feeling of being ‘stressed out’ that most people experience.” Although it is not dangerous, a panic attack may be alarming and frightening because it makes one feel out of control that one would mistake it for a heart attack.

* Do not let your panic attacks rule your life. Avoid limiting your lifestyle. Do not avoid doing certain things or going to certain places in fear of triggering another attack.
* Focus on other things. Take up new interest or hobby. It will not only help you take your mind off your anxiety, it will also be a tool for relaxation.
* Do breathing exercises. Practice abdominal breathing, or what they call “belly puffs.” Try to breathe normally and focus on the relaxing feeling you get when you exhale.
