From Vandalism to Homicide - Kids Blowing Off Steam

Vandalism, is the willful destruction or defacing of property and it is a crime.  The focus must be placed where it belongs.  On the values, attitudes, and spiritual condition of the students who could plan and carry out such mass murder and vandalism.

I remember when school was a safe place to be and the learn.  I remember when the principle was allowed to paddle students for misbehaving in class.  I remember every morning before class would start, we would say the pledge of allegiants.  “One Nation Under God”…and now all that’s changed.  It seems that once we took the pledge of allegiants out of the schools all hell broke loose.

Children today are much more violent with less respect for people and property.  It seems like vandalism and student homicide are all over the news, all over the world.  Towns and cities throughout America are suffering at the hands of vandalism and student homicide.

Some vandals work in groups.  Some adults even know some of the teens doing the damage.  There’s no one “type” of teen who vandalizes.  He or she might be the smartest kid in school, or the kid who’s always in trouble.  Most vandals are young people from grade schoolers to teens to young adults who vandalize out of boredom, anger, revenge, defiance or because of their association with friends that are bad influences.

How do you deal with vandalism and how do you deal with the offender after he or she is caught?  Should the offender be given the chance of restitution and some community service - or should he or she be sent to jail?  Vandalism is expensive to repair.  It makes our communities unattractive and unsafe.  Somehow we as adults need to send a clear message that vandalism will not be tolerated.

The Bible says that we should expect just such values and attitudes at the time of Antichrist.  On Tuesday April 20, 1999 in Littleton Colorado, two heavily armed young men described as disaffected outcasts stormed a suburban Denver High School, and in a shooting rampage on a scale unprecedented in an American schools, and killed as many as 25 students and faculty members.  The two young gunmen who wounded at least 14 others, were found dead in the library of Columbine High School after what police described as a ’suicide mission’.  Renewing the horrific chain of events, in 1997 there were two killed at a school in Pearl Mississippi, another event which took place is in West Paducah, Kentucky, three were killed and five more at a school in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The majority of teenagers today are capable of mass murder and vandalism.  Today’s teens are more hardened emotionally and mentally than any similar group in our history.  These children don’t have the same moral background as the rest of us.  Parents need to rectify this situation.

In conclusion of this article, blessed is the nation whose GOD is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.  (Psalm 33:12)  The inescapable conclusion from this verse is that GOD will curse the nation whose god is not the LORD GOD of the Bible
