How to Feel Confident On Holiday

July 15th, 2008 by isla campbell

There’s nothing quite like the prospect of knowing you are going on holiday to a warm country where you can while away the time lazing on the beach and swimming in the sea. But before you get there you need to think about packing your suitcase, and if you aren’t entirely confident about your appearance then it’s worth spending some time thinking about what you should take with you.

For example, a lot of women can feel very insecure and self-conscious about baring a lot of their body when the weather is warm. On the other hand however, you also want to be comfortable, and long trousers and a long sleeved top just won’t fit the bill!

As every Makeup Artist knows, foundation is the secret to a great makeup look. But, while there are a lucky few with perfect looking skin, most women need a little help in creating that flawless finish.

Need for speed: Women challenging the stereotypes

June 19th, 2008 by dcollins

There will probably always be a divide between men and women when it comes to the road. Men believe women are more likely to damage a car while trying to apply mascara, and women believe men are more likely to have an accident by showing off in front of their friends. The belief that one’s own sex is the better driver is something that has shaped perceptions for years and given birth to many stereotypes.

It is obvious that only one half of the argument can be right. In fact, statistics show that men are much more likely to be involved in an accident than women. In 2005, almost 172,000 male car drivers were involved in car accidents, compared with just over 93,000 female drivers.

Whenever you are planning to go to a special occasion – whether it’s a celebration of some kind or a wedding – you can spend hours deciding what to wear. But quite often it’s the accessories which really make an outfit, and it’s important that you don’t fall into the trap of adding them almost as an afterthought.

You should spend as much time choosing your accessories as you do the outfit itself – and ideally you should be shopping for both of them at the same time. If you have bought your outfit and you have it with you, it’s far easier to match up colours and get everything to blend in and look good together.

Splash out on designer beachwear this summer

June 6th, 2008 by isla campbell

It’s good to look stylish as well as keeping cool when you’re enjoying everything your summer holiday has to offer, but sometimes beachwear can leave a little to be desired.

It’s not hard to see why. When you are on holiday and there is a golden beach nearby with the sea beckoning you for a swim, your first thought is to get your swimming costume on before you leave your hotel or apartment. And what goes over the top of that? Usually it’s just a sarong or a pair of shorts. After all, they’re not going to stay on for long because you’ll be in the sea within minutes of staking out your spot on the beach.

Not everyone is blessed with a great fashion sense. Whether it’s wearing socks with sandals skater shoes with a skirt or mixing black and brown, most people probably know someone who would benefit greatly from an extreme makeover. But the bottom line is that many people simply don’t care about how they look in every day life; after all, it’s the 21st century now, so anything goes, right?

Well, to a degree this is true. ‘Casual’ certainly seems to be the most dominant mode of dress in day-to-day life, and even seems to have crept quietly in to the workplace, where ties are no longer the norm and many offices even encourage ‘casual Fridays’ where employees can show up in jeans and a t-shirt.

All you need is online love

May 30th, 2008 by pmcindoe

Online dating has come a long way since its inception; no longer do people hang their heads in shame at the ignominy of having to reply to the question ‘So where did you two meet?’ with a shamefully whispered ‘We found each other online’. Approval and nonchalance have replaced the previously felt embarrassment, as people recognise the value – both in time and quality – of either meeting their prospective partners online or dating virtually.

Time has become a commodity, with many choosing to focus on their careers and leaving settling down until their later years. However, with the rise in chasing personal aspirations, there has been a downturn in people having the time to date, much less the opportunity to go out and find ‘the right’ person.

Cool outfits for your summer holiday

May 30th, 2008 by isla campbell

There’s nothing quite like knowing your summer holiday is coming up and you’ve got nothing but two whole weeks of sun, sand and relaxation to look forward to. But wherever you are going it’s important to make sure you pack all the right things so you can dress for every occasion while you are away.

It can be hard knowing where to begin, but the key to packing successfully is to start by sorting out the clothes you already have. Cotton items are all ideal as they will keep you cool, but you may find that by going through your current wardrobe you have some essential items missing, so it might be worth making a shopping list at the same time.
