Most basic aquariums come with lighting already installed, but you can also buy lights if you want something different. For a novice the lighting in your aquarium should be sufficient if it’s fluorescent, however, this only applies to freshwater tanks. If you plan on setting up a saltwater aquarium, better lighting is a must.
Fluorescent lighting keeps fish the healthiest because it most closely resembles natural light - and it makes your fish look better! Don’t use candescent lighting in an aquarium, as it gives off a lot of heat and has a tendency to warm the water, possibly causing harm to your fish. Luckily, incandescent bulbs are easy to replace with fluorescent ones.

Burglary is one of those things that you never expect to happen to you. And true, with the necessary precautions, your home may never be broken into. However, it’s a good idea to attempt securing your home as best as you can because many people aren’t so lucky.
Criminals target houses that look like easy pickings. If they’re searching for somewhere to rob and see an unsecured home that looks empty, it’s an attractive option. A few security measures could really make a difference.

Sisters, brothers, children and partners – the realms of domestic abuse know no bounds and often it is those closest to the victim who causes the most damage. Instead of providing support through tough times, the victim’s nearest and dearest are a common cause of angst and abuse in people’s lives, and this fact in itself can be difficult to overcome.
One out of every three women will suffer from a form of domestic abuse at some stage throughout their life, as will one in six men. More often than not the abuser is a family member or someone known to the sufferer and abuse can take place anywhere; in the home, at work or whilst socialising.

It’s one of life’s most stressful tasks, but moving home doesn’t have to be as daunting as you might expect. When planning to move house, it’s important to stay organised and take the process one step at a time; in doing so, you can emerge from the moving process with a little less hair-tearing than initially anticipated.
Moving home can be both a costly and time consuming experience. In fact these factors are perhaps expected with such a task, but being organised helps a great deal and even if you’re not, then making and following a simple checklist could help alleviate all your moving home worries. In terms of the amount of time you should allocate, it’s normal to plan at least six weeks in advance to achieve all the steps on your checklist. This should be sufficient time to plan and pack your belongings and take care of any administrative duties, while also leaving enough time to allow for any unexpected occurrences that could set back the moving procedure.

What is embroidery? Do I really have to have my company logo embroidered onto my polo shirts and t shirts? Home decorating isn’t as hard as you’d think – all it takes it some research and a good eye for style. If you think your house could do with a makeover, here are a few hints on how to make the process run more smoothly.
The best way to tackle the project is to break it down into manageable pieces. If the whole house needs a makeover, choose a general theme and then tackle it room by room. The theme should fit the style of house you have. If it is a city apartment, a modern designer theme could be ideal. If it is a beach cottage, a nautical theme may be more appropriate. Once you’ve chosen the theme, choose one room to start on. If you try to tackle the whole project at once, not only will you spend a lot of money, you may find that you run out of steam and don’t complete the makeover as a result.

Surely you know what it is like to be desperately looking for something that seems to be maidenly out of reach. Everyone has gone through something similar at some point be it a car, a particular article of clothing, a specific piece of furniture or just a boyfriend or even a husband. Thanks to the internet, these things just might be a bit easier to find, provided you pay the price.
Auctions have always been good venues to find odd uncommon objects. Things that have been discarded as well as things which the owner just wants to sell for whatever reason. Online auctions have the same characteristic. You might even be able to find odder, more uncommon objects here than in a live auction given as online auction websites might not be so particular or strict about the objects they bid off.

There’s no doubting that London is home to a great number of fantastic landmark buildings that are famous throughout the world. Each of these fantastic feats of engineering and construction has a unique story to tell.
The Millennium Dome started out life as the brainchild of John Major’s government and was taken on and grandly up-scaled when Tony Blair came to power in 1997. The idea behind it was that it would host a Festival of Britain which would bring the country together to help celebrate the new millennium at the end of 1999. A little known fact about the Dome is that it was originally earmarked to become a football stadium after the millennium exhibition had finished, with Charlton Athletic and Fisher Athletic both rumoured to be the new tenants. This never materialised and the impressive structure is now known as the O2 Arena, and plays host to many music and sporting events.

To most people dolls houses are designed for the amusement of children or collectors, and serve no real purpose other than to keep one occupied; or, in the case of children, out of mischief. However, just a little research into the history of the dolls house reveals a far more interesting background than one might imagine.
Spanning across thousands of years, the humble dolls house has changed significantly in not only appearance, but also function. The earliest known examples of what we would now call dolls houses were miniature homes, discovered in Egyptian Tombs and thought to be created over 5,000 years ago. Built out of wood, it is believed the models, which included servants, furnishings and livestock, served religious purposes.
