Outburst of Ink

May 28th, 2007 by christelle

The first time I stepped in my kindergarten class marked the beginning of my history of writing. It began with writing the alphabet. My teacher was a petite lady, well-known for her patience. We were a perfect match as I took twice as long as my classmates just to write A-Z. She would take up all of the papers and then slowly turn around. Then came the stare; a stare I came to know very well. I would look back at her with an exaggerated innocence and quietly ask, “How does my paper look?” I knew even at that tender age that my letters looked better than everyone else’s. At this early stage, I developed enthusiasm that has lasted throughout the years. I would finish a writing task and when I finished it, which is more often than not, it would take a special and qualified person to truly appreciate it.

During my elementary years, from grades one through six produced nothing more than a long and dormant period of writing. I was just like Bermuda grass that turns brown all winter long and then greens up in the spring. I finally came out of dormancy in my first year in high school when again I met my grandma, who took a flight from Australia. In my eyes, she was halfway to perfection. But it was just about her wits. She was about five feet tall with large, soft, black eyes and short hair. I was just 2 inches shorter but that didn’t matter.

Why take out IT Extended Warranties with a manufacturer?

May 24th, 2007 by occidentarticle

Do you wish to pay out that annual fee for IT Extended Warranties to the manufacturer of £x thousand Euros per annum for your business critical equipment or would you prefer to take the risk and hope that your IT equipment does not breakdown for the next 3 years.
This is a question that most Small to Medium sized businesses face.  Often it is the very small businesses that decide to take the risk to not take out cover and the reason for this is to save cash.  However if that SME has already experienced an IT failure it is very unlikely that they would take the short term view and instead they would insure themselves against the probability that their IT hardware or software could go down.
The risk of not taking out that IT Maintenance Contract is that the business could not be functioning for several hours or indeed several days.  As a business grows it goes without saying that the bigger the business the bigger the losses and also it could even sink a smaller business.
Should we take out IT Warranty Upgrades/ IT Maintenance Contracts?
It is really quite simple:  companies should look at their business critical equipment and look at all the available related maintenance uplift services.
Business critical IT equipment from Printers to Servers to Storage often comes with a 1 year Base Warranty from the manufacturer but what is often required is an uplift so that instead of Next Business Day 1 year Base Warranty you opt for a Same Day 4 hour response so that your company does not lose more than half a day’s business.
The moral of the tale is that taking out an extended manufacturer’s warranty /maintenance contract ensures that you minimize downtime and ensures that your customers are continually serviced and your company does not lose money.
It can also be useful to employ an outside company to track expiring service contracts and identify new service and technology refresh sales opportunities.
One company which can provide effective service contract and warranty management program is Occident International Ltd . Companies such as this can leverage their own contract renewal systems to dramatically improve service renewal rates.  Amongst other things they utilize automated e-mail notifications in advance of expiring service contracts and telesales follow-up.
The importance of registering your IT Service Contract
Over 60% of IT equipment is not registered with the manufacturer.  This means that in the case of a breakdown the service levels provided by the manufacturer will not be adhered to as they will not have a record of your equipment on the call-logging databases.
This means that if you have purchased a 4 hour On-Site response for your servers the manufacturer may not come out to repair your machines until the next day.  This level of business downtime can obviously cost a great deal of money.
If, however the maintenance contract is registered you should enjoy seamless service from the manufacturer.
Another problem with not registering your http://www.occidentinternational.com”>IT Warranty Upgrades is that you will not be contacted by your Business Partner or manufacturer when it is about to expire.  Typically IT Extended Warranties last a period of 3 years and for many endusers it is difficult to keep a track of when the warranty / maintenance contract is due to expire.  You may then decide to buy new equipment but increasingly manufacturers are offering Post Warranty Packaged Services or contracts which has the advantage of not having to reload all your software onto new servers and ensuring business uptime.
As we become more dependent upon IT;  just ask a company who loses its broadband access for a week! it is becoming imperative that IT Managers in SME’s and larger corporates look long and hard at their IT inventory and ensure that their support contracts are watertight.

Unique Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

May 22nd, 2007 by talash

Send Gifts to India
Celebrated every year, Mother’s Day is an occasion when you express your affection and respect for your mother. It’s time to pamper her for all she has done for us over the years. On Mother’s Day you can tell your Mom that she will always be important to you all and that you will continue to love her for ever. Many other countries celebrate their Mother’s Day at different times throughout the year.

About Mother’s Day - Many different countries civilizations recognized and honored the work done by mothers in a variety of different ways in the past. Reaching as far back as times of the ancient Greeks, honoring mothers was already a concept of great importance as the god of Rhea and Cybele represented the Mother of gods. In United States of America, Anna Jarvis of Grafton West Virginia pushed for the national recognition of all mothers after her mother had passed away on May 10th, 1908. Finally successful in 1914, Woodrow Wilson declared Mother’s Day as a national holiday and reserved the second Sunday in the month of May to honor them.

Wedding Photography Tips for Amateurs

May 22nd, 2007 by photographytipsuk@gm

I have been shooting professional http://www.marksanderson.co.uk/photography-leeds.aspx“>wedding photography in Leeds and throughout the Yorkshire region for over 12 years. During this time I captured hundreds of weddings, and encountered all sorts of situations. Here are my top tips to help you get better results.
Tip 1
PREPARATION is the foundation of a good day’s shoot. Check your equipment: the batteries are fully-charged, all lenses are clean and free from dust. Check the locations: look for interesting scenes to frame your shots (This is also a good opportunity to pick up some scene shots, building details or anything else of interest – at the wedding you will be fully occupied with capturing people).
Tip 2
BACK UP is vital, because you won’t get second chance on the big day. Always carry spare batteries, memory chip or film, with you. If you don’t have a second camera or flash unit, see if you can borrow them from your friends. Remember, if something can go wrong it will go wrong, so be prepared.
Tip 3
GROUP SHOTS take a bit of organization. Make sure you have a list of all the group shots you need to cover, and tick them off as you complete them.
Firstly you should compose your shot, making sure the bride and groom are centred. Then work your way out, with the tallest people standing beside or behind the happy couple, and the shortest people at the edges. It’s the overall composition you should be thinking about at this stage; try different combinations of people kneeling or sitting.
Once you have your composition, start shooting, giving clear directions, and watch those faces: no one obscured, and all looking at camera!
Tip 4
WWW – Who Where When. You need to talk to the bride and groom and find out exactly who is appearing where, and when. Having done your groundwork (from tip 1) you’ll know exactly where you have to be at any given moment.
Tip 5
BE INVISIBLE. You are there to capture the event, not to be the centre of attention. Apart from when you have to take control for the group shots, it’s best to blend into the background as much as possible.
Most people freeze when they know a camera is pointing them, by being as unobtrusive as possible you can capture more candid and revealing shots.
Tip 6
CHILDREN are notoriously tricky to photograph. Always remember to shoot from a kneeling position, or so you are roughly at their eye level. Capture them as they arrive all smiles and pristine-looking. Photograph them in the service when they are getting bored or crying. And don’t forget to catch them letting off steam at the reception.
Tip 7
THE F STOPS HERE. You’ll need to keep an eye on your depth of field on the day. If your camera is automatic, make sure to set it to aperture priority. For group shots I like to keep a camera aperture at f5.6 or wider, maybe even f8 for large groups. At this setting you only need to focus on the eyes of people in the front row, and the rest will remain pin sharp.
Tip 8
MORE THE BETTER. The more photographs you take, the more chances you have of capturing the perfect picture – so don’t be afraid the keep the camera clicking, you can always edit out the poor shots. This obviously can be expensive for film cameras, but with the advent of digital photography, there really is no excuse, just make sure you have enough memory. As a rule of thumb, I would allow for 150 – 250 shots to cover a wedding.
Tip 9
RELAX – with a little planning and preparation, you’ll know what you need to do, and how you are going achieve it. The secret is to enjoy the big day; if you are relaxed and chatty, your subjects will feel at ease, which results in more natural-looking shots.

Importance of professional looking website!

May 18th, 2007 by cp3334

Although now-a-days creating a website is an integral part of every business model, just making a website according to what you think looks good and what you like is hardly a smart and creative idea.
It is very important to note that a well designed website can lead to online success but a badly designed website can have adverse effect on your reputation and hamper the potential growth of your business.
The chief reason why so many businesses fail to tap the potential of internet is due to the fact that although their products/services are better than their competitors, their website does not reflect the same, thus turning away potential clients and damaging the repute of the company.
When designing a website it is very important for you to understand that your on-line success depends on your website and if it is poorly designed the potential clients will not waste anytime in pressing the back button. So it is very important for you to have a professional web designing company handle the job of designing your website because they have the adequate knowledge and know-how to help you create a website the can cater to the needs of your target audience.
Apart from designing your website, professional web designing companies also offer various other services like web hosting, Search Engine Marketing and website copywriting and take care of your other web related needs. This can help enhance the visibility of your website and help you attract potential clients and lead to online success by building a unique brand for your products and services.
Although a professional website designing company can garner to a lot of your website related needs and offer a variety of services for improving your online business, website designing has many other crucial aspects that require an active participation on your part as well.
The most important thing for you to find out before going on with your website is to have clearly defined goals as to what you wish to achieve with your website and having a clear idea about your targeted audience is very significant. This requires lot of efforts and in depth research on your part as it will be of no use having a website which fails to grab the attention of your potential clients. It is also very important to highlight on your website what makes you different from others who offer similar services and also why should a client choose to work with you instead of your competitors. In other words it is very important that you identify your unique selling point and highlight it on your website. It is very important that a person visiting your website knows what makes you different from your competitors and other similar companies.
A professionally designed website can go long way in not only increasing the growth of your online business but also helping you build a brand image and enhancing your repute. A well designed website puts the right impression on your clients and helps you build a long term brand image for yourself and your company.
Although it is widely believed that putting up a website and having a Search Engine Optimization company (SEO) do the rest can lead to instant online success, it is hardly the truth. A SEO company may improve your search engine ranking enhance traffic to your site but it cannot guarantee that a person who clicks on your website stays on it. It cannot convert a visitor into clients that can only be done by a professionally designed website.
If your website does not appeal to the visitors than no matter how much money you spend on optimization of your site, it will give you no return if it is poorly designed but as a consequence it might hamper your brand image and damage long term reputation of the company.
Thus hiring a professional web site design company is worth its cost and can go a long way in enhancing your online success and developing a brand for your company.
So although web provides unlimited opportunities for success and different avenues for developing your business, it also takes a lot of efforts and thinking on your part before you create a website and take a plunge into the world of web.
